One of the highest expenses incurred by Echocardiography Labs is phased array transducer replacement (all major manufacturers) due to CW Doppler noise.

Cause
Technologists, lacking a drop leaf table or cut out mattress, force transducers into the space between the patients apical access window and the bed or table. This results in frequent and radical flexing of the transducers bend relief. Within a relatively short period of time the fine wires found in newer light gauge cables break and short resulting in the subject noise.

For most users, the cost of remedying this problem is an expensive factory transducer exchange.

Fix
CVS offers an affordable transducer exchange solution. We re-terminate existing cables and replace the bend relief with a longer and more rigid rubber compound, extending the future life of our repaired transducers.

Also, for labs not currently equipped with dropleaf tables or cut-out mattresses, CVS offers inexpensive mattresses and a competitive line of quality dropleaf tables.

Prevention

When a dropleaf table or cut-out mattress is not available, avoid severe flexing of the bend relief with patient positioning techniques, or use of CVS's "Wedgy" in hospital portable applications, or Philips-Agilent (HP) Sonos 4500/5500 snap-on bend relief support.

• Acoustic block replacement
